TKI / FNBA INVITATIONAL SHOWS
No. This show is by invitation only exclusively by R1 Promotions. The format of these invitational shows is designed to maximize the exposure and success of every knife maker that is invited while presenting attendees an opportunity to obtain some of the finest pieces the makers have to offer via lottery/auction.
Invitational show Exhibitors and their guest receive complimentary food and drinks at the Maker’s Luncheon, Exhibitor table, 2 chairs, soft knife display mattes, acrylic covers (must request in advance, supplies limited), open bid auction sheets, info cards for each knife for model name and pricing, closed bid boxes (if necessary), closed bid cards (if necessary), and maker sign with dedicated auction end time.
Invitational knife makers are asked to bring a minimum of one open-bid knife and one lottery knife. For makers that will bring more than the minimum, the ratio of lottery knives to auction knives must maintain a minimum of 1:1. For example, you cannot bring 2 auction knives, but only one knife for lottery.
On the other hand, it is OK to bring 2 lottery knives and only one auction knife. With our anticipated turnout for the event, we strongly suggest a maker bring one open-bid and at least two lottery knives. Multiple open and closed bid auctions are acceptable, as long as the ratio to lottery knives is met.
Once R1 Promotions has announced that a maker has been invited to exhibit at one of our invitational shows, then it is strongly encouraged that makers also make an announcement to their followers as well as post any work in progress and completed knives for the show on all social media platforms with the shows’ dedicated hashtag and tagging R1 Promotions’ account.
No. The attendees have taken the time and expense to attend the show whereas individuals not at the show have an unfair advantage of simply communicating digitally at the opportunity to obtain knives from the invited makers. To keep the long-term integrity of these shows, online bidding is prohibited.
Unless a knife is deemed a “defect” and has a critical flaw, all sales are final. This is the standard policy of the show, but any specific policy made exclusively by a maker supersedes our policy, so attendees are encouraged to ask the specific makers if they have any return policy in place. R1 Promotions is not responsible for the reimbursement of any knives sold at the show.
R1 Promotions invitational shows have a unique method of streamlining the lottery process. All attendees will have a unique collector number on the back of their badge. Inside the show, there will be a designated platform with a TV monitor displaying the drawings in real time. The numbers are drawn according to the number of attendees in the room. These winning numbers are written in a 1st to 5th place order on a card. The cards are then placed inside sealed envelopes. Once enough numbers are drawn so that every lottery knife in the room has a card, the basket of sealed envelopes will then be distributed around the room to all the makers. Each maker will select a sealed envelope from the basket and place it in front of every lottery knife on their table. Once all the envelopes are distributed to all the knives in the room, an announcement will be made to open the envelopes showing the winners. 1st through 5th place will have a set amount of time to make their purchase.
Representatives of the show will be in place around the room confirming that the attendee purchasing the knife is in fact the correct person with the correct badge number purchasing the correct knife, at the correct time, from the correct maker.
No. There is no obligation to purchase any knife sold via lottery. If a person declines to purchase or fails to claim a knife during their allotted time, then the next winner will have the opportunity to purchase the knife in their designated allotted time. If there are no buyers after 5th place, the maker can sell the knife to whoever they wish that is in attendance at the show.
Yes! All invitational makers will have a dedicated open bid auction end time. Each maker can have multiple open bid knives, but only one auction end time. It is the makers responsibility to keep track of their own auctions.
Yes. Each open-bid auction has a 5 minute anti-snipe rule. This means that any bid placed within the final 5 minutes of the makers auction end time results in an addition of 5 minutes to the auction end time.
The Makers’ Luncheon takes place inside the show ballroom several hours before the show opens to the attendees. This gives each invited maker and their guest an opportunity to break bread with fellow makers, pick up their badges, and setup their table for the show.
Makers and their guest can pick up their badge during the Makers’ Luncheon.
Badges are not replaceable under any circumstances. If your badge is lost, stolen, or damaged beyond recognition, then you must purchase a new badge.
